Janet Hoogstraate, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
As CEO of NorthX Biologics, Janet brings a vast amount of experience to the table. Most recently coming from a position as the managing director at Valneva, Janet has also worked in preclinical R&D at Astra Pain Control, as well at various leadership positions in drug discovery and development in neuroscience. She is also a trusted board member of Mireca Medicines GmbH, Alzecure Pharma AB and APL AB. Janet has a PhD in biopharmaceutical sciences from Leiden University in the Netherlands and an EMBA from Hult International School in London.
Maria Rynell
Chief Financial Officer
Maria joined NorthX Biologics in 2022 as CFO. She brings 20 years of experience in finance and controlling to the company, coming from positions as Finance Director, Group Controller and Head of Controlling at Recipharm AB and Bringwell AB. Maria has a master’s degree in accounting and finance from Stockholm University and is responsible for leading a team of multi-talented professionals working in finance, IT, HR and administration.
Peter Boman
Chief Operations Officer
Peter is the COO at NorthX Biologics, and as such responsible for our manufacturing facilities in Matfors. He holds a master’s degree in engineering, biotechnology, and business administration. Peter has worked in research and development with complex sample analytics, analytical development, and cell culture process development. He joined NorthX in 2013 and has since continuously improved his talented team, resulting in the production of a large number of biological drugs for clinical trials.
Ola Tuvesson
Chief Technology Officer
As CTO, Ola is leading NorthX Biologic’s development and project organization, focusing on delivering technologies and strategies to ensure high-end services within bioprocessing and analytics. He has more than 20 years’ experience from the pharma and biotech industry, ranging from early development to commercial GMP manufacturing. Ola has worked in several fields, including ATMP products, vaccines, and other biologicals. He has the essential knowledge to take a product from early pre-clinical development into clinical trials and to the market.
Thomas Beck
Chief Quality Officer
Thomas joined NorthX Biologics in 2021 and brought with him an impressive amount of experience and knowledge of the industry. He has a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and studied pharmaceutical science at Uppsala University to be accredited as a Qualified Person. Thomas also holds a Certificate of Proficiency in pharmaceutical engineering from Leeds University. He has experience from all fields of the pharmaceutical industry, most recent as the Senior Vice President for Recipharm, responsible for global quality.
Eva-karin Gidlund, PhD, MBA
Chief Alliance & Innovation Officer
Eva-karin joined NorthX Biologics in 2019 as Collaboration Development Manager and developed into Chief Alliance & Innovation Officer and deputy CEO. With a PhD in medicine from Karolinska Institutet and an MBA, she bridges the gap between innovation, academia, and the pharmaceutical industry. Eva-Karin drives strategic partnerships and growth, focusing on cell and gene therapies. A dynamic leader and speaker, she has been featured at TEDxTalk and Bünsow Business. Her goal is to translate scientific breakthroughs into impactful industry solutions.
Magnus Gustafsson, PhD, MBA
Chief Commercial Officer
As an experienced leader, Magnus drives complex projects across multidisciplinary teams, focusing on customer happiness at the intersection of R&D and market strategy. He has over 20 years of experience negotiating global agreements, including NDAs, MSAs, and supply and license contracts. Magnus holds an MSc in Biochemical Engineering, an MBA, and a PhD in Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics. His previous roles include senior positions at 3PBiovian, Cytiva, and Cobra Biologics, where his responsibilities included all aspects of business development, marketing, project management, and corporate partnerships.
